About Project
Toyko is a mobile app prototype designed to help collectors track and trade their blind box toys. Born from a personal need to organize an ever-growing collection, Toyko addresses a gap in the market—there’s currently no streamlined tool for tracking blind box pulls or managing trades. The app supports direct trading with friends and allows users to search and send trade offers to others. This project highlights my passion for collecting, data organization, and community-building, while exploring how Toyko could support brands like Pop Mart by increasing user engagement and product visibility.

SKILL & GROWTH
This project allowed me to expand beyond traditional Figma design into advanced prototyping techniques. I incorporated animated flows, conditional interactions, and click-through pathways to bring Toyko’s functionality to life. Working on Toyko sharpened my understanding of user behavior, taught me how to design with scalability in mind, and reinforced my belief that good design solves real-world problems—even the ones that seem niche at first.

Onboarding introduces users to Toyko with a warm and welcoming tone, guiding them through setting up their app preferences and customizing their profile visuals, including profile pictures and banners. The home screen features a dynamic feed showcasing users’ collection logs and updates from their friends. Users can also explore trending toys in the community or check the Toyko News tab for updates, new drops, and feature announcements.
Designed for Playful Navigation
The icon system in Toyko is designed with soft, rounded shapes and bold contrast to ensure clarity while maintaining a sense of fun. Each icon represents an essential function in the app—whether it's home navigation, trading, chatting, or updating your wishlist. The consistent visual language helps users intuitively explore the app, making their collecting journey smooth and enjoyable.

Show Off Your Shelf: A Collector’s Digital Trophy Case
User profiles act as a vibrant display case where collectors can proudly showcase their blind box toys. Each profile features a personalized layout highlighting current pulls, favorite figures, and detailed diary logs. Beyond aesthetics, Toyko also displays each user’s collection count and awards badges or titles based on milestones—like "Mini Master" for 10 toys or "Blind Box Boss" for 100+. Users can also manage their wishlist, mark toys for trade, and fully customize their profile with banners, profile pictures, and visibility settings. These features turn each profile into a unique collector identity while encouraging community interaction and trade compatibility.

Trustworthy Trading
This feature brings the heart of Toyko to life. Users can send and receive trade offers, chat about trades, and see public user collections. With social elements built in, Toyko promotes a sense of connection and shared joy among collectors—whether they're friends or new acquaintances.
As blind box toys continue to rise in popularity, many collectors—myself included—struggle to keep track of what they own, want, or have traded. The lack of a centralized platform makes it difficult to catalog collections or connect meaningfully with fellow collectors, leading to repeated purchases or missed trading opportunities.
A community with no home
PROBLEM
Toyko empowers the blind box community by providing a digital space to track collectibles and facilitate trades. It brings structure to a fun but chaotic hobby, while also opening up opportunities for toy brands to connect with a more engaged user base. Through sleek UX, intuitive search, and trade functionalities, Toyko transforms collecting into a more connected and organized experience.
A digital tool for collectors, built by a collector
